Welcome to my blog! My name is Kate, and this is my Endless Notation project. Here I’ll be documenting my musical practice habits, the pieces I’m learning and my progress to becoming a better musician. I’m (mostly) self-taught and found it’s hard to discern what’s helpful and where to go next, as the world of music making is totally endless and overwhelming, so I’ve created this blog to work it all out and be my own musical lab rat. I currently take copious notes on my playing, thoughts and skills immediately after practice, and figured those reflections might help someone else’s playing/ inspire some practice, or at the very least, show how even the most lazy person can carve out a meaningful practice habit in their stressed and sometimes lazy life.

I’m mostly an Irish fiddle player (I know right, I’m the coolest) so I’ll be writing a lot about that and in particular, aural skills. Don’t worry if folk music isn’t your thing, although I believe it probably should be – I’ll be categorising my thoughts and notes, so you can pick and choose what you’d like to learn along with.

New notations (see what I did there?) will be posted every Monday and Thursday evening (AEST).

Thanks for stopping by! It’s so lovely to have you.

Here’s a logo for the blog, as I’m currently procrastinating my scales and obviously needed to create a logo.
